After the series of unfortunate events that happened in ‘My cannot make it brother in law‘, Suzy moves on to pick up the pieces.

As Suzy was tidying up her room, she stumbled upon an old diary, which stirred up memories she had hoped to leave behind.

The leather cover was worn, the edges frayed, and the faint scent of dust and time clung to it. Suzy hesitated, her fingers hovering over the spine before she finally opened it. The first page was dated more than 6 years ago, her own handwriting scrawled across it in looping, uneven letters.

She looked up from the diary and she could hear her sister and brother in law walking past her door.

Moments later, there was a knock on her door and she quickly put the diary away, hiding it under a pile of other junk she was about to throw.

James : Suzy. You…want us to grab dinner for you?

Her brother in law James asked, his eyes darting to the mess in the room.

Suzy : No need. you guys enjoy your date…

James gave her a thumbs up and shut the door, leaving her to clean up her post separation bedroom. She has no idea where her husband has gone to, aside from the fact that he is on the run and is hiding somewhere in Malaysia.

Having been through a tough couple of months at home, it’s finally time to move on. Her father has sold the house and they will be getting ready to move. It’s time to leave some of the painful memories behind.

Suzy grabbed the diary and went down the stairs to the yard. She pulled the metal container used for burning incense paper and threw the diary in it. Just before she reached for the lighter, she hesitated.

Most of the furniture in the living area has already been transported over to the new place. A dozen boxes sit in a corner of the living room, waiting to join the rest in the movers truck that will be coming the next day.

Suzy looked around the empty house, a place where she grew up. She thought about her husband, Dan, and the things he made her do. It made her sick.

For reasons she can’t explain, Suzy reached down into the incense burner and brought up the diary. Dusting the ashes off the cover, she gripped it tightly in her hands.

She has slept with so many men, the episode when she was freelancing as a sex worker to pay off Dan’s debt almost drove her to kill herself.

It wasn’t until she met a particular client, a doctor, that she thought she found salvation. Someone who she felt truly care for her.

“write it down Suzy, document it, take the pictures, the videos, write down the shame, the hate, how you feel. And when you are finally ready to move on. Burn it, burn it all”

Those were his words.

After much hesitation, Suzy sat down on the floor where the washing machine used to be. She touched the diary, feeling the texture of the cover, a gift from Jon. A man she did not mind meeting up multiple times and catering to all his requests.

As much as she hated being a sex worker, she will be lying if she say she did not enjoy the sex with some of them.

Suzy flipped through the pages filled with words, some were neat, written like a school composition, some were just angry scribbles. Some were filled with angry emojis and drawings, but everyone of those entries detailed the ordeal she went through while clearing her husband’s debt.

Suzy tore out the first page, and before she threw it into the burner, gave it a quick read.

The first client she ever took. She could still recall the nerves and the butterflies in her stomach. She could even recall the conversations she had with him. His low voice and his cigarette tainted breath left a permanent stain in her body.
